Understanding Entity Type

Estimated reading: 1 minute 5 views

Overview

Entity type describes the kind of record affected by an audit event, such as task, project, invoice, client, ticket, lead, contract, proposal, estimate, or another supported entity.

What this feature does

It helps group audit events by the part of RISE CRM they belong to.

Why it is useful

  • It makes filtering easier.
  • It helps identify which business area was affected.
  • It supports reporting and entity-specific investigations.

Who should read this?

RISE Admin, Staff Manager, Developer / Support Engineer.

Where to find it

Entity type appears in Activity Log, reports, dashboards, and entity history views.

How to use it

  1. Open Activity Log.
  2. Find the Entity Type column or filter.
  3. Select the entity you want to investigate.
  4. Review only matching events.

Example workflow

To investigate invoice changes only, the admin filters Activity Log by entity type invoices instead of reviewing all audit events.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing entity type with action type. Entity type is what changed; action type is what happened.
  • Expecting unsupported custom plugin entities to appear automatically.
