Overview

Log notes let administrators add investigation context or internal comments to specific audit records.

What this feature does

They help teams document why an event was reviewed, whether it was expected, and what follow-up was taken.

Why it is useful

  • It improves collaboration during investigations.
  • It helps keep audit context attached to the event.
  • It reduces repeated investigation of already reviewed events.

Who should read this?

RISE Admin, Security Officer, Support Manager.

Where to find it

Rise Audit Pro → Activity Log → Note or Annotation action, if enabled.

How to use it

  1. Open Activity Log.
  2. Find the event you want to document.
  3. Click the note or annotation action.
  4. Write a clear internal note.
  5. Save the note and review it later when needed.

Example workflow

A suspicious deletion is reviewed and confirmed as an authorized cleanup. The admin adds a note explaining who approved it and when.

Common mistakes

  • Writing passwords, secrets, or sensitive customer information inside notes.
  • Using vague notes such as ‘checked’ without explaining the outcome.
  • Relying on notes instead of correcting permissions or process issues.
